Melissa Jean will premiere her recent plein air inspired landscape paintings, opening September 18, 2015. The exhibition includes work created in situ from her travels across Canada as well as larger acrylic paintings refined in her studio. From Lake of the Woods, Northern Ontario, Algonquin, Gatineau to Desolation Sound, Jean has trekked where very few have to find inspiration for her paintings in hidden waterfalls, lakes and forests.
Opening Reception: Friday September 18th from 6:00 to 9:00 pm
All are welcome, refreshments served, Melissa Jean in attendance!
"Throughout these last 5 years, I've set up my easel in the most unusual places... in a creek, balancing on a couple of stones, on a ship, in the rain, in a canoe, or on various islands. Over the last year or two, I've been at a place to finally process everything I've seen, the memories of so many special places, places that I've painted with my mentor, Robert Genn, as well as other artist friends. The memories were fresh in my mind and re-lived with every painting. Looking at the sketches that I've brought back to the studio, has taken me to a place of reflection, and I feel lucky to have seen so much, & painted with so many amazing artists. This show is very special to me, it's been years in the works… It's been an incredible journey, and in many ways I feel it's just beginning. I hope you will join me in celebrating the wonder of our country, and the places that I call home." -Melissa.
