SAP: Reverie
A Debut Collection of Landscape Paintings by Megan Parkes
June 25 – July 16, 2022
Woodlands Gallery is pleased to present our seventh SAP* exhibition artist, Megan Parkes, and her first available collection of landscape paintings in, SAP: Reverie.
Megan Parkes is an emerging artist based in rural Manitoba with Métis heritage. She graduated from Red River College’s Graphic Design program in 2015 and worked the next five years in advertising. Becoming a mother gave her a stronger more resilient sense of self, and was a catalyst in her decision to step away from advertising and pursue painting.
Working mainly in acrylics, Parkes’ naturalistic colour palettes and realistic landscapes foster mindfulness of nature and close community. With rays of sunlight that cut through billowy clouds and soft waves that ripple against rocky shores, her contemplative paintings fill us with quiet reverie.
Opening Reception: Please join us on Saturday June 25th between 1:00 and 4:00 pm to meet the artist & enjoy light refreshments. Survey the beautiful and serene moments of Manitoba’s landscapes through Parkes’ debut collection of paintings in SAP: Reverie.
*Our Supplementary Artists Program (SAP) features contemporary emerging artists from Manitoba for a limited engagement, providing them with gallery exposure and building on our mandate to support Canadian artists. This program also gives our clientele the opportunity to survey and purchase work from local artists who are not (or not yet) on our roster of artists.
