SAP: Kaleido-Genesis
Featuring colourful geometric abstract paintings and sculptures by Jared Loewen
September 7 – September 21, 2024
Woodlands Gallery is pleased to present our tenth SAP* exhibition artist, Jared Loewen, and his hard-edged, abstract paintings and sculptures in, “SAP: Kaleido-Genesis.”
Jared Loewen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan to a large family with a Judeo-Christian upbringing. He studied history and mathematics at the University of British Columbia Okanagan and is currently an elementary school teacher. A self-taught artist, he uses hard-line and abstract forms to explore the elemental aspects of life, such as themes of origin and life’s meaning.
Describing his work as inspired by an “ontological worldview, each [piece is] a physical representation of the ether, in which all things reside and from which all forms emerge.” His bold lines and highly saturated colour palettes cascade into kaleidoscopic forms and geometric patterns. Each piece created informs the next, evolving his body of work over time while representing an “individuation point of the universe itself.”
Please join us for the Opening Reception on Saturday, September 7th from 1pm to 4pm. Light refreshments will be served and Jared Loewen will be present to discuss his work.
*Our Supplementary Artists Program (SAP) features contemporary emerging artists from Manitoba for a limited engagement, providing them with gallery exposure and building on our mandate to support Canadian artists. This program also gives our clientele the opportunity to survey and purchase work from local artists who are not (or not yet) on our roster of artists.
