SAP: Rooted
A new initiative called SAP!
September 16 – October 15, 2016
To meet your demand for local work from local artists, this Supplementary Artists Program will feature contemporary emerging artists from Manitoba for a limited engagement. This mutual experiment provides artists with gallery exposure and builds on our mandate to support Canadian artists.
Rooted, the inaugural exhibition, features artworks from Geneviève Levasseur and Tracey Kucheravy. From the prismatic hues of Shoal Lake and Lake of the Woods to a radiant summer in Paris, these artists draw inspiration from the environment that surrounds them. Join us Friday, September 16th for an opening reception from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Rooted will be on display until October 15th, 2016.
Born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, Tracey Kucheravy, is a self-taught artist who later apprenticed with Gordon Harrison. She is deeply influenced by her surroundings: vast prairies, lush forests, and colorful valleys all serve as inspiration for her paintings. Kucheravy’s artworks are held in private collections in Canada, UK and the United States.
Geneviève Levasseur received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with honours from the University of Manitoba in 2011, continuing on to an internship at La Maison Rouge contemporary art gallery in Paris, France. She later spent three years living in the heart of the Lake of the Woods wilderness seeking balance, peace and inspiration.
