Unfurled
A Solo Exhibition Featuring New Paintings From Tracey Kucheravy
October 28 – November 12, 2022
“Unfurl — Make or become spread out from a rolled or folded state, especially in order to be open to the wind.”
Woodlands Gallery is pleased to present Tracey Kucheravy’s third solo exhibition, featuring an impressive collection of new paintings that bring forth the next phase of her artistic career. These works inspire contemplation and strength, with stoic trees proudly protruding from hard slabs of stone, unfurling their limbs as they reach for new heights. Glassy lakes reflect celebratory skies of blue, pink, and yellow, inviting us to unwind and absorb nature’s beauty.
Describing her work as ‘realistic impressionism’, Kucheravy uses acrylics to create glazes and veils behind multifaceted planes of colour. Setting warm and cool hues together in graduated colour palettes, she illuminates the delicate branches, billowy clouds, and silken lakes of the Canadian Shield and surrounding areas.
Born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, Kucheravy currently lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba working as an engineering technologist and self-taught artist. After apprenticing with renowned Canadian landscape artist Gordon Harrison, she continues to hone her skills through travelling and artist residencies. Since her debut with Woodlands Gallery via our Supplementary Artists Program (SAP) in 2016, Kucheravy has cultivated a strong following while demonstrating incredible ingenuity as her work continues to evolve. Her paintings are held in private collections across Canada, UK, and the United States.
Opening Reception: Friday, October 28th from 6-9pm Take in this breathtaking body of work and meet the artist in person. Refreshments will be served.
