Jacqueline Berting was born in St. Gregor Saskatchewan, Canada in 1967.She attended Red Deer College in 1987 and Sheridan College in Oakville Ontario, 1987-1990, where she majored in Glass. Jacqueline Berting Studied Iron Art and Blacksmithing at Penland, North Carolina, 1990.
Her most Famous work to date is the Glass Wheatfield, 1991, encompassing 14,000 waist high glass wheat stalks, each piece individually hand cut and lamp worked.The Wheatfield can be viewed at its permanent location at the Regina Plains Museum. Over the years Jacqueline and her husband James Clark have completed and installed several large commissions for government and other corporations, including the Glass House of Perception, the New Fine Arts Campus Cafeteria installation, The Story Wall located in Iqualuit, and Generations of Memories glass wall situated at Weyburn City Hall.
Born in Billings, Montana, in 1963, James Clark relocated north to Saskatchewan, where he now resides in Cupar. He has been working creatively with photography, metal and glass sculpture, glass blowing and glassblower equipment design for over ten years. His hot shop displays his new and innovative equipment.
Through the generous support Jacqueline has experienced, she and James have established Berting Glass, which employs several people from the Community.Berting Glass, located in Cupar, Saskatchewan supplies glass gifts to over 150 gift shops and galleries.
Jacqueline and James have two children; Bryce age twelve and Lucas age ten. Though the use of sand-cast, and blown glass, She is celebrates the progression of life and its air of mystery; the boundaries we face, how we deal with the obstacles and the spirit we create.
